Gospel Family - Part 2

Ben Gibson

When did you come of age? Do you remember? When did you feel like an adult, capable of self-governing? If you are not yet, when do you think you will?

Was it when you turned 18, could then vote, and in the eyes of the law you were no longer a minor? Was it when you graduated from high school or college, your education was complete and you had your diploma in hand? Was it a matter of experience like marriage or becoming a parent? Was it a matter of emotional intelligence gained through therapy or counseling?

This coming of age is what Paul has in mind in Galatians 4:1-7, and it overlays onto our adoption as sons and daughters of God. Having been justified by faith, we are received as children and stand with Christ as heirs of God’s kingdom. Our place in this Gospel Family is a place of freedom from all that once condemned us and kept us under lock and key. We are free from childish, legalistic things. We are free to enjoy true kinship in our Gospel Family, and free to delight in what once caused us dread.

Join us today as we talk through Part 2 of our Gospel Family and the freedom we have as sons and daughters.
