Shadows - Part 2
We return to our study through 1 Peter this Sunday and the subject of shadows. Biblically, shadows are pictures of heavenly realties. They are living parables that teach eternal truths in temporal spaces. They are promises of greater fulfillments yet to come.
We saw the promise part from Christ’s sufferings (v. 18, 19, 22). Christ not only provides us with an example of how to endure suffering (2:21 - 25), but it is also a promise of what God can do through our own. God brought triumph out of the suffering of Jesus. We can be confident He will do the same for us.
We will finish up chapter 3 with 2 remaining shadows: Noah’s flood as a parable of salvation, and baptism as a picture of justification. Join us today for more as we study 1 Peter 3:20 & 21 and we talk about what those shadows mean and how they apply to our present day hardships.
