The trouble in Galatia was not new. 

The same distortion of the good news that God makes people right with Himself by faith alone has been seen periodically throughout history. It is the enemy's favorite play run all over again in a different city, with different people, under different circumstances. He still likes to run it today. 

With the resurgence of easter mysticism and religions like Buddhism, Hinduism, and even Islam, and their emphasis on rituals, moral conduct, and spiritual practices, works based righteousness is making a come back. When you add progressive Christianity into them mix along with epidemic biblical illiteracy, there isn’t much by way of force to stop people’s understanding of the gospel from changing.
