Gospel Liberty

What does God mean when He speaks of freedom? Commonly, we Americans define freedom as the inalienable right to think, feel, speak, and act as we want without hinderance or restraint. But our freedom has little to do with the American experiment of free assembly, free press, free speech and the free practice of religion.  Gospel Liberty is not privatized or individualized. In the Spirit, Paul is not campaigning for the freedom to believe whatever we want, or the freedom to be ourselves no matter what.

Our freedom has everything to do with what God in grace has accomplished through His Son for those who believe. Therefore, freedom is the distinctive privilege of those He saves. We who are in Christ are independent from what once ruled over us. We are free from the demands of the Law to earn and perform. We are free from the guilty it levied, its condemnation and its penalty of death.

And that is just one, albeit profound, aspect of our freedom in Christ. Join us this today as we dive into the practical section of our study through Galatians and we talk about our Gospel Liberty from Galatians 5:1-6.
