Abiding > Striving

This time of year is very motivating. Everyone loves a fresh start and the chance to renew our commitments. It can be very helpful. However, we must be cautious. The desire for self-improvement may lead us to depend upon our own strength. Our hard work may lead us to self-sufficiency.

We must remember that the Christian live cannot be lived in our own strength. As we think ahead to the new year, abiding in Christ is greater than striving, even if we are striving for righteousness. In 2 Peter 1:3 - 11 we see just how much greater that relationship is than our striving.
