Political Conversations with Jesus

For the last 2 weeks, I have addressed my own bad attitude about politics and feelings of disenfranchisement from culture. In the process of self-examination my uneasy feelings continued to increase around one particular and very alarming issue. Jesus and His teachings have been coopted by unbelieving secular foundations, who have intentionally weaponized them to push progressive political agendas upon Christian voters.  That is indeed happening. And those concerns are legitimate.

Therefore, my approach along with my tone is changing. Since Jesus' teaching has been commandeered, I want to know what He really said. It is time we find out from Him how to engage in the politics of our day.

To answer that, we will turn to two conversations in the Gospel of Matthew. One is found in chapter 10, in which Jesus addresses His disciples how to engage the powers that be as they are sent out into the world. The other is from Matthew 22, in which Jesus engages directly with the powers that be.

Please join us today to have our first political conversation with Jesus from Matthew 10:16 - 23.
