Gospel Family
As we round out Galatians 3, we are still wrestling with the purpose of the law, which as we know from verse 19, was to establish the guilt of sin. Our text this week emphasizes the protection from evil the law provided through the metaphor of adoption. Adoption in the Greco-Roman world of the first century concerned children becoming adults. At which time they had rights as citizens and a legal standing to inherit their father’s estate.
Paul lays the groundwork for our adoption in Galatians 3:21-29, personifying the law and the promise to prove the point. Under the law we were under guardianship. Having been justified by faith, we are heirs according to the promise. It is another way grace through faith trumps legalism.
Join us today as we talk through this Gospel Family and the foundations for our adoption in Christ.
