A Kingdom Without a King

Honoring the events that transpired on Palm Sunday is important. But not because it was the true coronation of Jesus as King. That has yet to come. We celebrate it because we know the crucifixion is coming. We know there can be no kingdom for Jesus without first the cross.

That said, this Sunday we are going to set this event carefully within its proper context. Our passage is Luke 19:28 - 40. However, the parable of the 10 Minas (Luke 19:11 - 27), which Jesus tells this right before the triumphal entry, and the cleansing of the temple (Luke 19:45 & 46), which happens the day after the triumph entry, will help us understand the attitude Luke is conveying through the Holy Spirit. There is a desire for the kingdom of God without its King.
