Faith in Consequence - Part 3
In the continued effort to show us what faith looks like, the writer of Hebrews through the Holy Spirit, reacquaints us with the patriarchs: Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. About whom, verse 13 offers up this summary: “These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.” By faith they saw what God promised, they embraced those blessings without having received them, and they understood their place in this world (v. 1 - 3).
In other words, because they had faith, they waited on the Lord. That said, waiting is the third consequence of faith that endures. Our text this Sunday is Hebrews 11:8 - 19. Abraham and Sarah are our examples of faith that waits.
