A Better Priesthood - Part 4

We return to the parallels between Christ and Melchizedek this Sunday in Hebrews 7:1-10. This is not for the dull of hearing. This is not milk. It is meat for the mature. So, let me encourage you to lean in and put forth the effort to understand this mysterious Melchizedek who prefigured the ministry of Christ.

What we learn of him generally, we apply specifically to the superiority of Jesus' high priesthood. The reasons provided by the author are eternally important. Christ's perpetual ministry as our High Priest strengthens our hope in the promise of Heaven. Important to the warning we have just received, it strengthens our resolve to persevere in the faith. In other words, we keep going because we know we have a High Priest who will not fail.
