The Second Coming & Our Suffering

Hope has already entered our conversation about suffering. One of the lenses through which we view our suffering is the hope of the gospel (1:3 - 9). Remember hope is not a feeling or a wish. It is complete confidence in the sure character and actions of the Triune God. So, when we speak of hope, we are speaking of the choice to trust completely in Christ for the future.

With that in mind, we are exhorted in our text to set our hope fully on the grace of God that will be brought to us at the revelation of Jesus Christ, the unveiling of the One who is now invisible to us (1:14). The take away becomes clear - His promised return is a source of great hope in times of suffering. We can endure because we know He will come again.

Join us today as we discuss the Second Coming and its effect on how we live and how we hope from 1 Peter 1:13 - 16.
